A buyout transaction is typically a one-off large investment (> $100mn) acquiring full ownership or a major stake in a mature/established firm. Whereas a "Venture" transaction usually includes several rounds of smaller investments (< $100mn) coming from several investors who typically acquire smaller stakes in start-ups with a high-growth potential.
